Initial Brief Responses

These are the two magazine and music video briefs for 2026 exam season.

Initially, for music video, I had the ideas for the songs The Only Exception by Paramore and last nights mascara by Griff. Last nights mascara is quite upbeat originally, however there is a slowed down acoustic version here: https://open.spotify.com/track/3YZel4Tz4oMvV8N3qNRuvg?si=htMqyPWwSUiU1rTX6JOqcw

Another song idea is the way things go - beabadoobee https://open.spotify.com/track/5sA3i6SGkILMiZW6Fhx4wv?si=5sGpWEs7SK2RnIQgtdgxkw

Pros and Cons of doing a music video vs a magazine

Intertextual references:

A lyric in lasts nights mascara is “asking God to wash you from my soul” and the theme of the way things go is about trying to forget and move on from a past relationship - could reference the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Triangular Essay Structure Method - Infographic

I created this infographic about the triangular micro/macro essay structure about why it is useful and how to do it. This is useful as it allowed me to not only consolidate this structure to help improve my essay writing, but it has also created a useful revision resource for me to use when I need to revise how to structure 10/15 markers.

Beauty Advert - Byoma Skincare

For my beauty advert task, I chose to use some Byoma Skincare. To take the photos, I used a CASIO camera and placed the product against a white background, and I also used a sunset lamp to create orange and pink lighting against the product, which created dimension within the photo. Once in Photoshop, I noticed the photo appeared too dark and I used the brightness tool to add more light to the photo. After seeing BYOMA adverts in the past, I know they like to present their products as simple ,bubbly, bright and fun, and I used old adverts I've seen as inspiration for this one.  I removed the background and added a purple background with circles of orange, pink and a darker purple. I chose these pastel colours as the target audience for BYOMA is young teen girls. I added the logo across the bottom of the advert so that audiences are able to identify the brand of the product. I inserted BYOMAs slogan "BOOSTED BARRIER, BETTER SKIN" into the orange circle, and imitated the font to add a made up slogan of "Cleanse. Tone. Moisturise", which I decided on as it follows the most basic steps of a good skincare routine, and presents the brand as simple and not too fancy for young girls. Lastly, I added the ingredients of both products to the dark purple circle. I also added drop shadows to all layers to add more dimension to the final result. I like this advert as I think it captures a good balance between simplicity and fun for BYOMA. If I did it differently, I would allow myself more time on this to try and make the final result more interesting whilst still being simplistic.

All About Me

My All About Me:
We were tasked to create a poster describing all about ourselves. To start with, I added all of my favourite music artists (Paramore, Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and David Bowie). I added these as music to me is a big part of my life, and these artists are some of my favourites as their music really speaks to me and tells a story. I also love to travel, so I added some of my favourite destinations and dream holidays. Finally, I added 3 of my favourite directors. I really admire these directors work. Film is a topic I really enjoy and find fascinating, and it is currently my goal to study film at university.
