20/10/25 - Development of Contents Page 1

 

Today, I developed my first contents page by finalising the specific layout I wanted. I decided that cutting out my model from the background made the image more striking and stand out better against the red. I also began to write the contents onto the page, inspired by content page examples from Elle, Vogue and Vanity Fair. Next to the cutout of the model, I created a “Seth Chadwick wears” section, with the information about the items of clothing my model is wearing, the brand of each item and the prices. I chose designer versions for all of the clothes, to replicate the high end fashion of Condé Nast magazines, such as Ralph Lauren, DIOR, and Hermés.

Underneath my models arm, I also included a caption that says “See more at www.elitemagazine.com”, to encourage readers to visit the website and promote digital convergence.

17/10/25 - Development of Front Cover and Cover Lines

 Today, I began to finalise the first draft of my front covers. This involved adding in barcodes to the bottom left of each of my covers, and adding cover lines that help define each of the articles inside.

The first covers main cover line, "Style, Substance and Rock & Roll" is a reference to the famous Ian Dury song, which is relevant considering the first model is meant to be the lead singer of a rock band, about to go on tour.

The second cover line "Redefining Femininity" refers to how the actress featured has recently starred in a film about femininity, masculinity and the way gender is represented in society.

16/10/25 - Development of the "CULTURE" Page on my Website

Today, I began to work on the "CULTURE" page of my website.

 I began by writing the heading to this page, which invites website visitors to join an ELITE club membership, offering exclusive content and limited editions that other visitors wouldn't be able to access.

Next, I chose a photo of one of my models and edited it in Photoshop using the spot healing tool, brightness adjustment and saturation adjustments to make it appear more polished and high end, as seen below:

Applying this image to my website, I then added a registration form that website visitors can "Fill In" in order to become Elite Club members, see below the progress so far on this page:

15/10/25 - Photo Editing

 Today, I began to choose out some more photos to flesh out my website.

I chose some of my favourites from the collection of photoshoots I completed and edited some of them to be more high-end and Vogue worthy.

14/10/25 - Website Home Page Development

 Today, I worked on my website. I added a slideshow of my two models and text that says "Welcome to Elite, The Cultivation of Fashion". Furthermore, I added the animation that my header slowly disappears as I scroll to make my website appear more cohesive and put together.

Finally, I've also added the "New In ELITE" section, in which I will put my two front covers, to emphasise the brand identity of the magazine and promote their new magazine editions/

13/10/25 - Front Page Development and Contents Page Layout

 Today, I began with experimenting with the background gradient of my first cover, and have decided on a white/grey gradient, as it makes my model stand out. I also began a rough mock-up of the contents page that aligns with the first front cover, deciding on which photos to use and a rough layout, in order to experiment on ways to present this. I also started to block out ideas for my other front cover. I like the photo shown, however the background at first seemed a bit bland to me, so I began to play around with different background colours. 

10/10/25 - Cover 1 Contents Page Development

 Today, I began my contents page which ties into my first cover. I decided on the layout and began to block out different sections of these two pages including the images, text and headline. I explored different photo options and have narrowed it down to one of the top two.

3/10/25 - Front Cover Work

Today, I downloaded the font I would like to use for my cover lines, headline and logo throughout my final products. After this, I airbrushed my models skin, hair and outfits using the "remove" tool to get rid of any imperfections in the image.

2/10/25 - Front Cover Choices

 Today, I looked through my reshoot photos of my second model, Seth, and I went through every photo and narrowed down my front cover choices to the two photos above. Next, I will enter photoshop with both photos, brighten them up to make the lighting appear a bit better, and create mockups of my final front cover to help me decide which photo will work best for the cover.
